Alliance Corridor Inc. has announced a partnership with the University of North Texas’ (UNT) Department of Supply Chain Management, part of the G. Brint Ryan College of Business, to provide senior-level students with hands-on experience in global trade, commerce, and Foreign-Trade Zones (FTZs).
The initiative, launched in the 2025 spring semester, connects students in UNT’s Logistics and Supply Chain Management program with expert resources from FTZ No. 196, administered by Alliance Corridor, Inc. The program operates within the 27,000-acre AllianceTexas development.
Joshua Griffith, managing director of FTZ No. 196 and representative of Hillwood, provided direct trade and logistics knowledge to students, who also toured AllianceTexas-based businesses within the zone. Students learned about the economic benefits of FTZs, such as improved cash flow, reduced inventory tax, elimination of export duties, expansion ease, and job creation. A student pitch competition in front of industry executives capped the semester’s hands-on learning.
“Our team is committed to helping provide the resources necessary for developing our future workforce,” Griffith said. “This initiative marks a significant step forward, made possible through the valued partnership of UNT, TTI Inc., Topgolf Callaway Brands Corp., and trade consultants James Grogan and Matt Williams.”
Dr. Brian Sauser, professor and chair of UNT’s Department of Supply Chain Management, noted that exposure to real business scenarios strengthens students’ critical thinking and career readiness. “Thanks to this strategic partnership, we’ve enhanced our students’ supply chain education with practical applications that can help strengthen young professionals’ career opportunities,” Sauser said.
UNT’s Logistics and Supply Chain Management undergraduate program is ranked fourth in North America by Gartner’s Supply Chain University Top 25. It is the first major university to partner with a Foreign-Trade Zone.
Alliance Corridor Inc. also joined UNT’s Corporate Partnerships Program and Supply Chain Industry Advisory Board, reinforcing its long-term commitment to workforce development.
FTZ No. 196 spans over 9,600 acres and is among the nation’s leading general-purpose FTZs by value of foreign merchandise admitted.
