Alliance For Children's original location in Arlington is set to undergo major expansion starting this week.
The nonprofit, which focuses on protecting children from child abuse, will break ground Thursday on a 24,000-square-foot addition and remodel to its Arlington center at 1320 West Abram St. According to Alliance For Children, "This expansion will not only accommodate Tarrant County’s rapid population growth; it will also provide more space to deliver depth to investigative and healing services, upgrades to technology to better serve victims of child abuse, and room for growing partnerships and staff."
Alliance For Children CEO Julie Evans and president Eric Herrstrom, along with Arlington mayor Jim Ross, are expected to make remarks at the groundbreaking ceremony.
The project is part of the nonprofit’s $15.8 million capital campaign, which also includes plans to expand the Northeast center in Hurst by 4,000 square feet and relocate the Fort Worth center from 908 Southland Ave. to the former Cendera Center at 3600 Benbrook Blvd.
Alliance For Children has been in operation since 1992, directly involved in protecting children from child abuse through coordinated and teamed investigations with 31 local law enforcement agencies, as well as Cook Children’s Healthcare System, JPS Health Network, the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office, Tarrant County Juvenile Services, and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. The nonprofit reports serving over 60,000 children since its launch and 2,125 children in the 2019 – 2020 fiscal year, adding that COVID-19 and overall population growth in Tarrant County have heightened the need for resources against abuse.
