Bruce Frankel, CEO of DRC Solutions, is stepping away from his position after 18 years, the nonprofit announced on Thursday.
The DRC board has appointed Tony Wilson as interim executive director.
DRC Solutions was founded in 1999 with the mission to mitigate homelessness by providing stability through permanent housing for the most vulnerable in Tarrant County.
Frankel is credited with achieving significant milestones during his tenure, including the transition from the organization’s roots as the Day Resource Center to DRC Solutions, an award-winning county service and housing provider.
“We are deeply grateful for Bruce’s commitment to our community,” said Robert McCarthy, DRC board chairman. “As he steps down, we look forward to celebrating his remarkable contributions and wish him continued success.”
DRC Solutions, according to officials there, will honor Frankel during its annual Breakfast with the Mayor fundraiser April 17 at Ridglea Country Club.
The DRC story began with reporter Jeff Guinn’s story in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Guinn spent a week living as a homeless person, providing a firsthand account of living on the street and reporting on the gap of services for the homeless. DRC opened as the Day Resource Center for the Homeless in 1999. In 2015, the agency rebranded as the DRC to underscore its leadership in housing strategies.
Wilson, who has a master’s degree in social work from TCU, has eight years with the DRC. His experience includes oversight of DRC’s programs over the past three years and the positioning of its Street Outreach program as a best practice leader among Fort Worth’s human services organizations, according to the nonprofit.
“Tony’s passion and expertise make him the ideal leader to guide DRC during this time,” said McCarthy. “We are confident in his ability to build on our strong foundation that ensures a seamless transition and furthers our impact.”
