NTT IndyCar Series Grand Prix of Arlington
The Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys are collaborating with one of motorsports’ best-known organizations to bring an NTT IndyCar Series race to Arlington’s entertainment district.
The IndyCar Grand Prix of Arlington, in partnership with Penske Entertainment, will debut in March 2026, with a course integrating Arlington’s sports venues.
Race promoters are promising the "next global spectacle" in racing.
A press conference involving all the race’s major figures, including Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and Roger Penske, a 20-time Indy 500 winner as an owner, is scheduled to take place today at Texas Live!
The 2.73-mile racecourse, which will be unveiled today, will wind through Arlington's renowned sports and entertainment district, including the Rangers’ Globe Life Field and the Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium, an area known for hosting premier events and attracting more than 1.6 million spectators annually.
That figure is expected to increase in 2026 with the FIFA World Cup coming to AT&T Stadium that summer. Moreover, the forthcoming National Medal of Honor Museum is scheduled to open in 2025.
The new race will add another layer to Arlington’s reputation as a sports and entertainment destination, attract global attention to North Texas, and infuse a fistful of dollars as an economic booster for the region, officials say
“This announcement is an economic win for North Texas, and we’re looking forward to welcoming this incredible racing series and its fans for an unforgettable experience,” Arlington Mayor Jim Ross said in a statement.
Bill Miller, a seasoned executive in the motorsport industry with more than three decades of experience, has been named president of the race. His background includes leadership roles as the president of California Speedway and senior VP of operations at SEMA.

The event marks a return to the region and Texas for IndyCar, which raced at Texas Motor Speedway every year from 1997 to 2023. However, IndyCar and TMS track operator Speedway Motorsports were unable to come to an agreement for 2024. "It's a huge market for us," three-time series winner Alex Palou said on Tuesday.
"Through a truly remarkable and innovative partnership, we’re going to build racing’s next global spectacle,” Roger Penske said. “Everyone involved is fully committed to delivering an incredible and unique event weekend for the city of Arlington.”
The NTT IndyCar Series is celebrated for its fast-paced open-wheel racing and the time-honored Indianapolis 500. Drivers compete at speeds exceeding 200 mph.
"I'm excited. I wish it was this March, not 2026," said Palou. "It's huge having the Cowboys and Rangers around us. That's what we need. We ned to add new events that are huge, like this one. Events that, hopefully, we can reach new people. Almost everyone who watches IndyCar falls in love with it."
"We are thrilled to join forces with the Texas Rangers, Penske Entertainment, and the city of Arlington to bring Grand Prix racing to the streets of the Arlington Entertainment District,” Jones said. “This event will provide a unique NTT IndyCar Series race experience for fans attending and those watching around the world.
