The Fort Worth Club has named Gloria Starling as its new director of operations, the club announced on Monday, marking a new chapter for the civic treasure housed in a building that will celebrate its 100th anniversary on Seventh Street next year.
Starling enjoys more than 25 years in hospitality and 12 years as managing partner at The Capital Grille’s downtown flagship. She has earned a reputation for elevating service standards and building tight-knit, high-performing teams.
“The Fort Worth Club has long stood as a beacon of tradition, civic leadership, and excellence,” Starling shared on social media. “I’m honored to join an exceptional leadership team as we continue to elevate the member experience with purpose, innovation, and care.”
Born in Mexico City and a resident of Fort Worth-Dallas since 1991, Starling has deep roots in the region and a passion for cultivating environments, with an expertise in food and beverage management, wine programming, and luxury hospitality, according to the club.
Founded in 1990 in Providence, Rhode Island, by Ned Grace during a recession, the Capital Grille steakhouse chain steadily expanded, joining Darden Restaurants in 2007 alongside other notable brands, including Olive Garden and Ruth’s Chris. Fort Worth became home to its 46th location in May 2012, opening at 800 Main Street just across from longtime rival Ruth’s Chris. The downtown Capital Grille quickly established itself as the city’s busiest fine-dining steakhouse, renowned for its 18–24-day dry-aged steaks, in-house butchery, and a wine cellar boasting over 350 labels.
In May 2024, The Capital Grille opened a new location in Southlake.
The Fort Worth Club was founded in 1885. In 1926, it opened the 12-story high-rise at Throckmorton and Seventh streets. Longtime club president Amon Carter hosted many prestigious guests in the apartments at the new building in his personal quarters, including President Franklin Roosevelt, Jimmy Doolittle, Gen. Douglas MacArthur, Bob Hope, Gene Autrey, and many others.
The new Fort Worth Club became the “social epicenter” of Fort Worth, as the club recalls it.
“I’m deeply grateful for every step that has led me to this moment — and for the warm welcome I’ve received from The Fort Worth Club,” Starling said.
