Higginbotham has made another strategic acquisition.
The firm announced this week that Turner & Associates of Brunswick, Georgia, had joined the Fort Worth-based firm, according to a press release.
The new partnership further solidifies the firm's “commitment to the state and to the Southeast region,” the company said. Higginbotham has 10 other offices in Georgia.
"We're proud to be joining forces with a regional star," said Rusty Reid, Higginbotham chairman and CEO, in a statement. "Turner & Associates has grown from a community agency to being licensed in 42 states. They have impressive accounts and specialty practices for nonprofits, construction, and hospitality. But they've also kept their local agency feel. Turner has a great team that always puts service first and will go out of their way to help every customer."
Turner & Associates has been an Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America and Reagan Consulting Best Practices agency the past eight years.
“And last year they rated us as the top performer in our revenue band,” said Robert Turner, Turner & Associates president. “That's all down to our people: they pick up the phone when it rings, they knowledgeably answer your questions, and they expertly handle any challenges.
"I'll put my team up against any other in the industry."
Higginbotham, an employee-owned firm founded in 1948, is a single source solution for insurance, financial and HR/employee benefits services. It ranks by revenue today as the nation's 20th-largest independent insurance brokerage, according to the firm.
Turner & Associates Insurance was formed by Albert Shelander in 1950 and expanded as part of Savannah-based Palmer & Cay. It was purchased by Turner and rebranded in 2003.
"Over the years, I've turned down a lot of M&A offers," Turner said. "When I came back to Cheryl [Crews, director of operations] and Jarrett [Bridges, managing director] with Higginbotham, they asked me, 'What's the difference?' Well, the difference is they're insurance people. We're not working with them to build someone's bottom line. We're working with them to grow a bigger and better insurance agency for our clients, our team, and our industry.”
