HPI Fort Worth
Matt Montague
HPI, the Texas-based full-service real estate firm, has announced its first key hire in the new Fort Worth office headed by former NFL quarterback Colt McCoy.
Matt Montague, a Fort Worth native and 17-year commercial real estate veteran, is joining the firm as executive managing director.
“Matt is first class in every way,” said McCoy, an HPI partner, in a statement. “His leadership, experience, and strong values completely align with what we are building here at HPI. Bringing Matt on board is a crucial piece to our success, and his deep industry knowledge gives us a real edge here in Fort Worth.”
McCoy opened the Fort Worth office in February to expand the firm’s reach across Texas.
HPI is creating a full-service platform in Fort Worth, from third-party leasing and management to development and acquisition. HPI was founded in 1992 with four employees and one million square feet. Today, HPI employs more than 200 people in Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and now Fort Worth, serving 900 clients across almost 30 million square feet.
Montague’s experience spans multiple aspects of the business, including tenant representation, agency leasing, land transactions, acquisitions and dispositions, and investment and development.
“Matt has a stellar reputation, and his body of work speaks for itself,” said McCoy. “He has a diverse perspective. He’s seen commercial real estate deals from all sides, and that will give us an edge.”
Montague previously served as a senior managing director at JLL in Fort Worth. Montague initially joined the Staubach Company in 2008 before its acquisition by JLL that same year. Over his more than 15 years there, he worked with clients in Tarrant County, as well as other markets across the U.S. and around the world.
He has worked with a range of industries and companies, including Bell, Simpli.fi, Encana Resources, Six Flags, United Way of Tarrant County, Range Resources, BBVA Compass Bank, Moncrief Cancer Institute, UT Southwestern, Southern Land Company, and Ball Corporation.
In his career, Montague has closed upwards of 500 deals totaling over $1.5 billion, according to the firm.
McCoy, a Texas quarterback legend, hired him despite his attending the University of Oklahoma, where Montague graduated with a BBA in accounting in 2008. (Early October each year should be fun at the Fort Worth office.)
“Fort Worth is in the top of the first inning relative to its growth and maturation,” Montague said. “With the HPI team and platform behind us, we are best positioned to make an impact.”
