

Bank of Texas: Deirdre Cherry
Bank of Texas named Deirdre Cherry as private wealth team lead for the Fort Worth market, overseeing personnel and client relationships in the Fort Worth market. Cherry is responsible for overseeing sales and service processes, and working with some of the division’s largest customer relationships. A banking executive for more than 20 years, Cherry was previously chief credit officer of Gateway First Bank, based in Dallas. Prior to Gateway, she served in wealth positions at Bank of the West, Bank of America, Deutsche Bank, and JP Morgan Chase & Co.

Child Care Associates: Marnie Rulfs Glaser
Child Care Associates named Marnie Rulfs Glaser its first director of policy. Glaser previously was founding executive director of early learning at the Texas Education Agency and, most recently, as Dallas Commit Partnership’s founding director of early childhood. “Working alongside city and county educational, philanthropic, business and civic leaders who have already made a profound commitment to the success of all young children and families in this community is a welcomed opportunity,” Glaser said.

Sanober Syed has joined the leadership team, leading Landry’s new healthcare division, Landry Commercial Medical, LLC, which will solidify the company’s footprint and expansion in Dallas-Fort Worth. Shannon Johnston has joined Landry’s brokerage team. As vice president, Johnston will represent industrial tenants and owners, helping grow Landry Commercial’s industrial division to further strengthen the company’s position within the industry across Dallas and other high-demand markets.

Lena Pope: Cathy R. Sheffield
Lena Pope, a nonprofit organization with a 90-year history of improving the lives of Tarrant County children, has appointed Cathy R. Sheffield as its new chief advancement officer. Sheffield will be responsible for executing comprehensive and diversified fundraising and marketing strategies to ensure Lena Pope has the resources needed to continue supporting child development and improving the behavioral and mental health of local children far into the future. Sheffield founded and served as president of ThinkGiving, a Fort Worth-based planned giving consulting firm. She also served as vice president at Thompson & Associates, a values-based estate planning firm based in Nashville. In addition, Sheffield has held various development positions for organizations such as Baylor Scott & White All Saints Health Foundation, Texas Health Resources Foundation, Cook Children’s Health Foundation, and Texas Christian University. Sheffield received an MBA from Texas Christian University and a Bachelor of Science from North Dakota State University.

Jonathan Ragsdale has been promoted to principal of the fast-growing, Fort Worth-based Peloton Land Solutions. Ragsdale, who has more than 16 years’ experience in program management and planning, manages multi-disciplinary land development and planning projects. For the past 10 years, Ragsdale has been involved with site planning, entitlement and feasibility studies for various projects within the 27,000-acre AllianceTexas project in north Fort Worth. He also serves as the planning/entitlement lead for the 870-acre Alliance Town Center mixed-use development. Ragsdale holds a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from Texas A&M University.
Brian Haynes, P.E., CFM, has been hired by Peloton as vice president, where he will lead the charge of a growing public sector services program. He is a graduate of Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Haynes is a professional engineer and certified floodplain manager. He has more than 20 years’ experience designing and managing public infrastructure projects, served as city engineer for five municipalities and developed capital improvement plans throughout North Texas.
Promotions to Associate
Associate Amanda Mata, P.E., hired a year ago as project manager, is a professional engineer with more than 15 years’ experience and holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Texas A&M University, College Station. During her tenure at Peloton, she has successfully led design teams in the completion of multi-family, senior living and townhome residential projects, as well as the Parkland Hospital parking garage. Other noteworthy projects include engineering design of facilities and public roadways at Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, and planning an integrated design of infrastructure facilities at for Nebraska Furniture Mart within the Grandscape master development in The Colony.
Associate Andrew Mizerek, P.E. has 16 years’ experience in civil engineering, land development and construction administration, including the engineering design of large residential developments and commercial projects. Mizerek currently manages Peloton’s special district projects from the Frisco office. He is actively involved in maintenance projects throughout north Texas, working with district HOAs to provide continuous inspection and observation monitoring contractors’ maintenance bonds. Since joining Peloton in January 2018, Mizerek has worked with developers on the formation, engineering and maintenance of various water districts around the Metroplex. He received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Arizona State University.
Associate Tanner Sheets, P.E. joined Peloton in October 2018 and is based in the Frisco office. He is a registered professional engineer with experience in civil engineering design of municipal, commercial, and residential projects. Sheets’ residential experience includes the design of master-planned community developments in Fort Worth, Fairview, and Grand Prairie and design and construction services for Texas Parks and Wildlife’s Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center in Athens in East Texas, as well as Oncor Electric’s Oncor Blackland Substation in Fate, Texas. He received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Tyler.
Associate Timothy “TJ” Wells, P.E. started his career at Peloton’s Frisco in 2019. He has more than seven years’ civil engineering design experience of municipal infrastructure, as well as private sector residential and commercial projects. Wells has served as project engineer on numerous ongoing road constructions projects with the city of Celina, including the design of a six-lane divided major arterial. In his role as client service manager for several rural communities, he assisted in resource planning for current and future projects. Wells holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Civil Engineering from Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa.

Stream Realty Partners: Chris Doggett
Stream Realty Partners announced Chris Doggett joined its Fort Worth office as executive vice president. Doggett will lead Stream’s office division within Fort Worth, while continuing to focus on Stream’s existing office portfolio and talent recruitment. Doggett, in commercial real estate for more than 20 years, specializes in marketing and leasing of office properties and completed more than 6 million square feet of office leases throughout DFW. He was formerly an executive vice president in JLL’s Dallas office.

Texans Can Academies announced Richard Marquez retired as CEO and president. Dr. James Ponce, superintendent of Texans Can, assumes responsibility for all areas of school district operations. Since joining Texans Can in 2016 as chief of schools and as part of the organization’s succession plan, Ponce has been responsible for academic strategy, staff and instructional implementation in the district. He has also directed the management of the district’s facilities and instructional budgets.

The award-winning sommelier Tiffany Tobey is new general manager of Thirty Eight & Vine. Tobey graduated from Texas Tech University, with dual Bachelor's degrees from Texas Tech University in Restaurant, Hotel and Institutional Management and English. She is a Certified Level II Sommelier, and comes to the tasting room after working as the wine director at SER Steak and Spirits at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas. There, she built an award-winning wine program and collection, and focused on education, tastings, and world-class pairing dinners. Tobey will bring this same energy and expertise to 38 & Vine.

Vortus Investment Advisors promoted Brian Hansen to partner, Frank Lamsens to chief operating
officer, and Ross Cunningham to director of finance. Hansen joined Vortus in 2014, serving most recently as principal. He has been responsible for various stages of the investment lifecycle, including sourcing, structuring, transactional due diligence, monitoring, and management. Lamsens joined Vortus in 2014, serving in dual roles and chief financial officer and chief compliance officer. Previously, he worked in various corporate finance, accounting and investor relations roles at TPG and as a manager in the Chicago audit group of KPMG. Cunningham joined Vortus in 2018.
