The Rotary Club of Fort Worth is accepting nominations for its Richard L. Knight Rotary Minority Business Awards program.
The program is open to any minority-owned business located in Fort Worth.
Nominations will be accepted through Jan. 31. Go here to nominate.
Winners will be unveiled at a luncheon on April 25.
The program was created five years ago to increase Rotary engagement with minority-owned businesses. And it has done so. The program has increased minority participation in Rotary by nearly tenfold, according to the Rotarians.
The inaugural winner was Samantha Renz, this year’s committee chair.
Specific criteria is below:
- Minority businesses must be at least 51% minority-owned, operated and controlled
- Minority group member(s) is an individual who is at least 25% Asian, Black, Hispanic, or Native American, as defined by the National Minority Supplier Development Council
- Nominations may be submitted by any business or person in the community
- All questions on the nomination form must be answered to be considered
Self-nominations are acceptable.
In addition to others prizes, the first-, second-and third-place winners receive a $15,000 tuition reduction scholarship in UT Arlington’s executive MBA program offered at UTA Fort Worth.
The Rotary’s roots in Fort Worth date to 1913. J.E. Mitchell was elected the first president.
