Bill Chandler
Standard Meat Company, a Fort Worth-based leader in protein processing and packaging, has appointed Bill Chandler as its new director of supply chain, a newly created leadership role aimed at strengthening the company’s infrastructure and supporting long-term growth.
Chandler brings more than 30 years of experience to the position, most recently serving as vice president of protein trade sales at Cargill. In this new role, he will oversee procurement, transportation, warehousing, and third-party storage, while contributing to customer relations and production planning.
“Bill brings the right mix of experience, love of the industry, and respect for the people,” said co-President and CEO Ben Rosenthal. “His first move hasn’t been to overhaul — but to listen.”
Chandler comes to SMC with more than 30 years of experience, most recently serving as vice president of Protein Trade Sales at industry giant Cargill, where he led a team of more than 300 across 12 locations in the U.S. and Canada.
The new role at SMC consolidates previously separate responsibilities. Chandler will also support customer engagement by translating raw material trends and collaborating with teams on production and demand planning.
“I’ve spent most of my career in supply-driven systems — this is different,” said Chandler. “Standard Meat is demand driven. It’s about service, specialty products, and real relationships. That means it’s more intricate, more collaborative, and, frankly, more exciting. I get to learn new things and help an incredible team continue to grow in the right way.”
Founded in 1935, SMC is a fourth-generation, family-owned company with facilities in Fort Worth, Dallas, Saginaw, and Ponder, and a fifth plant on the way. The company supplies custom protein products to global food service and retail clients and is known for its innovation and people-first approach.
“He’s lived every side of the business,” said Ashli Rosenthal Blumenfeld, company co-president. “And he’s passionate about passing that knowledge on.”
Chandler holds degrees in agricultural economics from Oklahoma State University.
