The Tarrant Area Food Bank and Tarrant County Food Policy Council are holding a gardening conference called "Dig Deep: a Conference for Growers," July 17 at BRIT | Fort Worth Botanic Garden. The conference will be in-person, with some virtual content offered.
"Growers from across North Texas will come together in the spirit of education and passion for what the soil can produce," the Food Bank and Food Policy Council said. "Dig Deep: A Conference for Growers provides a unique opportunity for growers from different fields to share experiences, knowledge and resources. All conference topics are suitable for beginner and intermediate level growers."
Cost is $20 per person, with breakfast and lunch provided by the Food Bank’s Mission Kitchen, featuring locally grown produce and meats. The conference is 8 a.m.-4 p.m. July 17 at BRIT, 1700 S. University Drive. Register here.
Growers will be able to explore three tracks: Home, Community and Market Gardening.
"Whether the goal is to feed their family, share with hungry neighbors, or enter the marketplace, this will be the learning opportunity for each attendee," the Food Bank and Food Policy Council said. "No grower in North Texas will want to miss this. The tracks reinforce Tarrant Area Food Bank’s Mission of empowering communities to alleviate hunger by providing food, in this case anything grown from the Home Garden, education in how to start and maintain your garden and resources, such as TAFB’s community garden program which encourages the community to come together and create a space to produce fruits and vegetables thus having an accessible option for the local neighbors to consume."
