Jared Shelton has been named president of Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth.
He will assume his duties Sept. 22.
Shelton comes to Texas Health Fort Worth from Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Hurst-Euless-Bedford, where he spent two years as president.
He will replace Joseph DeLeon, who left the hospital to become president and CEO of Roper St. Francis Healthcare in Charleston, South Carolina. DeLeon had served in the position since 2018.
“Jared is a rising star within Texas Health Resources, and we’re pleased to see him continue his career at one of our largest hospitals,” said Kirk King, COO for the Hospital Channel at Texas Health, in a statement. “Under his leadership at Texas Health Fort Worth, we expect the hospital to continue to grow to meet the needs of the community we serve.”
Harris Methodist is an 851-bed, full-service hospital that serves North Texas with a Level I Trauma Center.
Texas Health Resources is a faith-based, nonprofit health system that cares for more patients in North Texas than any other provider — 16 counties and more than seven million people. Texas Health operates 29 hospital locations under the banners of Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth, Texas Health Presbyterian, Texas Health Arlington Memorial, and Texas Health Huguley. The system has more than 4,100 licensed hospital beds, 6,400 physicians with active staff privileges and nearly 29,000 employees.
Prior to leading Texas Health HEB, Shelton spent six years as president of Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Allen and another six years at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas in progressive leadership roles, advancing to vice president of professional and support services.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University and earned a master’s degree in healthcare administration from Trinity University in San Antonio. He currently serves as the ACHE Regent for the Texas-Northern region and is the Texas Hospital Association’s Council on Policy Development.
Next month, Shelton will be recognized with the 2024 Momentum Award from Trinity University’s Health Care Administration Alumni Association for outstanding achievements in healthcare management.
