Turkish Airlines announced it will launch Dallas/Fort Worth as its 11th U.S. gateway Sept. 24, flying between D/FW and Istanbul four times per week.
The maiden flight, TK191, is scheduled to take off from its hub at the new Istanbul Airport at 2:10 p.m. local time on Sept. 24 and arrive to D/FW at 6:55 p.m. Central time. The first Turkish flight to depart from D/FW, flight TK192, will depart that evening at 8:25 p.m. and arrive at Istanbul, 3:50 p.m. local time on Sept. 25.
Turkish will run the roundtrips Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
The Istanbul Airport is expected to be the world's largest upon completion. Turkish Airlines flies to 326 destinations in 127 countries on five continents, and connects to more than 60 destinations within a three-hour flight from Istanbul.
Dallas/Fort Worth will be the airline’s 327th destination and second in Texas, with the first at Houston. The airline is a member of the Star Alliance, whose U.S. partner is United Airlines.
“With the opening of our 11th US gateway, we look forward to welcoming travelers aboard this new route to experience our world-class service, award-winning cuisine and world-famous Turkish hospitality," M. İlker Aycı, Turkish's chairman, said in a release.
"We continue to make health and safety a top priority for our passengers and employees and maintain a strong commitment to keeping the world connected through our expanded North American presence.”
“D/FW Airport is committed to connecting its customers to destinations all across the world," Sean Donohue, CEO of D/FW, said. "Welcoming Turkish Airlines as our newest international partner underscores that commitment. This new flight enables DFW customers to travel directly to Istanbul and then directly to destinations across five continents."
In June 2020, Turkish Airlines announced its "Guidelines for Safe Travel," and two in-flight health protocols: hygiene kits containing a face mask, disinfectant and antiseptic tissue, and “Hygiene Expert” cabin crews appointed to flights to enforce on-board hygiene and social distancing measures.
Turkish offers two-class configuration on its aircraft, including business and economy class. Turkish has resumed premium onboard dining and beverage services, previously restricted due to the pandemic, for all Business and Economy Class flights longer than two hours and 15 minutes. Versace amenity kits and active noise canceling Denon headphones are also available for international Business Class flights.
The carrier also created an animated safety video, Turkish Airlines Extra Care, featuring the airline’s global ambassador Dr. Oz, bringing viewers through the travel experience passengers should expect when flying.
