Child Care Associates announced it received a $100,000 grant from Texas Mutual Insurance Co., the state’s leading provider of workers’ compensation insurance, to support CCA’s Pre-K child care programming partnerships.
It was the second year in a row the Fort Worth agency received a $100,000 grant from Texas Mutual for its work to support child care. CCA said it will use the grant to launch a new Pre-K Partnership in Tarrant County.
“With this grant, we’ll be able to provide working families with access to full-time Pre-K, which allows them to contribute to the workforce and support their families,” Kara Waddell, Child Care Associates' CEO, said in a release.
“Texas Mutual has recognized the need to invest in generational learning and the needs of our workforce. It’s because of investments like this that Child Care Associates is able to better serve our community and we are so grateful.”
The grant was announced alongside 37 other Texas organizations that were awarded funds to support their efforts in generational learning. Two other Fort Worth nonprofits also received grants: Alliance for Children and LVTRise. These grants are part of Texas Mutual’s larger commitment of $4 million in grant funding in 2021 to nonprofit organizations across the state in two categories—generational learning, and workforce development and safety training.
“Child Care Associates and its leadership continue to develop innovative ideas and partnerships in the Tarrant County communities,” Jackie Sekiguchi, Texas Mutual community affairs manager, said in the release. “CCA’s thought leadership is proving to be an invaluable asset beyond North Texas and we are glad Texas Mutual can be a part of their continued success.”
Generational learning grant recipients are nonprofit organizations in Texas selected based on their demonstration of the following:
- Improving the health and wellness of Texas workers and their families by providing access to quality health care and health education
- Strengthening the early childhood education system by ensuring childcare providers have the resources needed to deliver access to affordable, quality education for Texas families
- Increasing equitable access to technology and broadband connectivity by focusing on adoption, use and expansion
