One of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ biggest fans is a Fort Worth boy who still lives here. Bobby Patton, part of a group that bought the Dodgers in 2012 for $2.15 billion, doesn’t have to drive far to see his team in the World Series at Globe Life Field in Arlington.
Patton, who declined to be interviewed for this story, has substantial real estate and oil and gas holdings and interests in sectors such as ranching and cutting horses.
Patton received a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas, law degree from St. Mary's University, and LLM from Southern Methodist University. He is part of the Guggenheim Baseball Management group, which bought the Dodgers in 2012.
This Spring, Patton was one of two investors who backed Gozova - an early-growth, on-demand Fort Worth transportation technology company that pairs trucks and drivers with consumers and businesses that need items picked up and delivered. The investments from investors Sasha and Ed Bass and Patton completed a $500,000 seed round. The investments raised the nascent profile of venture capital investing in Fort Worth.
In 2016, Patton and his wife Sherri gave $20 million to the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Texas. He’s also a graduate of Paschal High School in Fort Worth.
