Bradley H. Rice, a construction attorney and litigator who is a shareholder with Decker Jones P.C., has been recognized as a National Outstanding Eagle Scout by the Circle Ten Council of Boy Scouts of America, the law firm announced Monday.
The award is presented to "an adult Eagle Scout who brings great honor to the highest rank in Boy Scouts of America through their personal and professional contributions at the local, state, and regional levels," according to award chairman John Copley.
As an Eagle Scout, Rice says he always loved camping and participating in the National Jamboree Scouting classic, reminiscing about the leadership skills he gained interacting with other scouts, scout leaders, and the communities in which they frequently volunteered.
“The values that we learned to embrace gave me the impetus to become a strong contributing member of my law firm as well as to serve my local community as a member of the City Council,” Rice said in a statement. “In that position, I recognized the importance of listening and dialoguing in whatever I would be doing. After all, I was governing my neighbors.”
Rice, who earned his juris doctor from SMU in 1982, was a member of the Colleyville City Council in the early 2000s.
The Circle Ten Council is based in Dallas but also comprised of 24 surrounding counties to the north and east, according to its website.
Rice has been a member of the Decker Jones firm for all 39 years of his career. Additionally, he serves as member of the Editorial Board for the State Construction Law Journal and spent 32 years grading close to 100,000 bar exams for the Texas Board of Law Examiners.
Rice represents all facets of the construction industry, from suppliers and subcontractors who have disputes of a few thousand dollars, to general contractors who have a wide range of issues, to developers with multimillion-dollar projects.
