Caregiver Inc., a leading Fort Worth-based provider of long-term care to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, said Wednesday it’s buying the Texas operations of the Mosaic nonprofit, extending Caregiver’s reach in the state.
The purchase, which Caregiver and Mosaic said will be completed Feb. 15, adds six Mosaic locations to Caregiver’s network. The centers are in Dallas, Corsicana, Lubbock, San Angelo, San Antonio, and Bryan.
Caregiver, a privately held company with headquarters in southwest Fort Worth, operates under the brands Daybreak, Southern Concepts, St. Gile’s Living Centers, and Unified Care Group in Texas. It operates 800 properties in Texas, Tennessee, Indiana and Ohio and employs 3,900 people, and it said its revenues will near $200 million for 2019. Caregiver and Mosaic did not disclose the terms.
“Caregiver’s expertise and investments in technology are solving inefficiencies often experienced by smaller companies," Mark Lashley, the Caregiver CEO, said in a release. "As a result, costs go down, the quality of care goes up, and we’re able to expand services to more individuals and their families."
Mosaic, which operates in 10 other states besides Texas, said tightened disability services funding nationally “made it necessary to review the sustainability of all Mosaic services and locations.” Mosaic, which serves 600 clients, continues to expand services to clients in other states the nonprofit services, it said.
“We believe that the unique challenges Mosaic faces to operate effectively in Texas can more easily be met by an organization like Caregiver, which has a larger and more widespread presence in the state,” Linda Timmons, the Mosaic CEO, said. “Additionally, we are letting people know they always have a choice of providers, but that we recommend Caregiver and their affiliates upon their philosophy of service and available resources to support people.”
Caregiver offers a range of services, including intermediate care facilities, home and community-based services, group home living and foster care, and support services. Mosaic was formed in 2003 by the consolidation of two old Lutheran ministries in Nebraska dedicated to the needs of people with disabilities.
