La Madeleine French Bakery & Cafe restaurants and Walmart are launching a partnership under which they'll open 10 test locations of la Madeleine Express prototypes inside Walmart stores.
The Express stores will sell customer favorites like la Madeleine's chicken caesar salad and tomato basil soup, and new items such as pizzas that la Madeleine has created for the Walmart locations. The stores will feature dine-in areas, and small retail sections that sell popular la Madeleine items and new offerings such as soups, jams and sauces.
The first of the 10 locations is scheduled to open in a Garland Walmart in July, la Madeleine said.
“We look forward to making it even more convenient for the DFW community to enjoy the la Madeleine experience, while also introducing our French comfort food to Walmart shoppers that are looking for more diverse dining choices,” Lionel Ladouceur, la Madeleine's CEO, said in a release.
The remaining nine Express locations "will make their debut shortly after" the first one, la Madeleine said.
Each prototype will range in size from 980 to 2,209 square feet, la Madeleine said. Founded in 1983, la Madeleine operates nearly 90 corporate and franchise bakeries in nine states, and is owned by Groupe Le Duff of Rennes, France.
