A new study only amplifies the adage about not being from Texas but getting here as fast as they could.
Hey, we don't blame you, despite it currently feeling as if we're living on the sun.
Storagecafe.com has told us in a new report what we already knew: Texas is booming as evidenced by the state holding the top five most active real estate development markets in the country.
Fort Worth is fourth.
The city grew in population by around 25% over the past decade and the surge is reflected in 50,000 building permits recorded for single family homes over the past decade, second only to Houston. During that same time, almost 37,000 new apartments were also permitted in Fort Worth, as well as 3.2 million square feet of self-storage space.
Fort Worth also added significant amounts of commercial real estate, more than 58.5 million square feet of industrial space and 6.6 million square feet of retail. In the office space, 5.1 million square feet were added.
Houston was No. 1 overall, followed by San Antonio and Austin.
Dallas was fifth.
