Who is eligible to be nominated or apply for the Fort Worth Inc. Entrepreneur of Excellence Award?
Eligible candidates must:
- Own 33% or more of company and be the majority shareholder
- Be active in the leadership of the company and in setting its strategic vision for the future
- Work for a company that is privately owned and based in the Greater Fort Worth area (Tarrant, Parker, Hood, Johnson, Denton, Wise, or Ellis county)
- Work for a company with annual sales of at least $2,000,000, verified by a CPA that is not an employee of the company
- Work for a company that has been in business for at least two years (in business prior to Jan. 1, 2019)
What does it cost to nominate or apply for the Fort Worth Inc. EOE Award?
There is no cost to nominate a person or to complete an application for this award.
Who can nominate someone for the Fort Worth Inc. EOE Award?
Anyone can nominate a worthy entrepreneur for this award, or the entrepreneur can nominate himself or herself.
When will the nomination period end?
All nominations must be received no later than July 9, 2021 to be eligible.
How will candidates be judged?
All candidate applications will be reviewed by an independent panel of judges who will select three finalists from each category based on his or her responses to the questions/essays on the application form. Finalists will be notified and receive a profile in a special edition of Fort Worth Inc. Finalists will also attend the Fort Worth Inc. Entrepreneur of Excellence Awards Gala, when the winner from each category will be announced.
What are the judging and data security rules?
All information contained in this application will be kept in strictest confidence and is for the use of our panel of independent judges in determining the qualifications of each applicant to receive the EOE award. Additionally, application information may also be used by Fort Worth Inc. and a select group of presenting sponsors in order to properly manage the promotion, profiling, and awards/trophy presentation of program finalists and winners. No financial information will be published or shared publicly without the applicant’s consent. All parties taking part in this process will sign non-disclosure agreements, which will be on file at Fort Worth Inc.
What are the EOE categories?
- Commercial Construction – General contractors, subcontractors, architecture, engineering, etc.
- Consumer and Durable Goods – Companies that manufacture, distribute and/or sell products
- Energy – Exploration and production, services, etc.
- Health Care and Life Sciences – Medical, pharmaceutical, etc.
- Hospitality – Lodging, restaurants, travel, and tourism, etc.
- Professional Services – Insurance companies, law firms, ad agencies, etc.
- Real Estate – Developers, brokers, agents, etc.
- Residential Construction – Builders, subcontractors, architects, designers, etc.
- Tech and E-commerce – Companies that manufacture software/hardware, offer tech services, and/or sell products online
- Other – if Other, please provide category name and description of the category (Fort Worth Inc. reserves the right to place "Other" applicants in an already existing category if they fit one)
How many winners will there be in each category?
There will be three finalists in each category, but only one winner in each category.
The winner from each category will:
- Be recognized as the Entrepreneur of Excellence in their category in a special edition of Fort Worth Inc. magazine, along with a profile of their company.
- Receive a one-of-a-kind, custom-designed Fort Worth Inc. Entrepreneur of Excellence Trophy
- Receive a pair of custom-made ostrich Justin boots with the Fort Worth Inc. EOE logo
- Receive promotional considerations from a variety of sponsors
- Be granted future opportunities to speak at or participate in Fort Worth Inc. magazine events
- Be inducted into the Fort Worth Inc. Entrepreneur of Excellence Hall of Fame
