Energy Freelance, a marketplace in which energy companies can quickly and easily hire top energy experts, has named Michael McCown as its new executive vice president.
“Michael is the ideal person to take Energy Freelance to its full potential,” said Ryan Vinson, Energy Freelance CEO and founder, in a statement.
“Michael’s lifelong career on all sides of the energy industry has given him the insight and experience we need as we connect great companies to talented professionals. In short, there is no one better prepared to be our guiding force as we work to strengthen the energy industry from the ground up, with the best talent in the right positions so that both the industry and the professionals in it reach their potential.”
McCown is a graduate of the University of Texas and a certified professional landman. His energy career provides him with a unique perspective and understanding of the client hiring side, as well as a freelance service provider.
His experience in oil and gas includes large and small companies, public and private, both in-house and as a vendor, in increasing roles of responsibility, according to a press release.
Prior to joining Energy Freelance, McCown was director of commercial development for Black Stone Minerals, L.P. Additional roles included business development and landman positions with companies such as Parsley Energy, Inc., where he oversaw billions of dollars worth of acquisitions and divestitures in the Permian; Stockyards Energy Land Services, and EverVest, Ltd.
“Michael understands what both our client companies and freelancers need, which gives our platform and technology roadmap a substantial boost,” said Vinson.
Energy Freelance helps energy companies find experts across the country who have the talent and skills they need to excel. The firm also is a conduit for talented energy freelancers to quickly and easily find the available jobs for which their skills and background are an ideal fit.
“This is an incredible opportunity to solve a true issue in our industry, and I look forward to the challenges and opportunities ahead,” said McCown. “I know how important it is to have the right person fulfill an important project. Through Energy Freelance’s success, we’ll be strengthening the energy industry on which our nation — our world — depends.”
In addition to providing an energy-specific marketplace for employers and professionals, Energy Freelance also offers an all-in-one project management platform baked into its site. The platform makes it simple for both parties to communicate, manage files, and handle payment in one location.
“Energy Freelance is already making an important impact on our industry by streamlining project-based hiring,” said Vinson. “With leaders like Michael joining our team, we have the opportunity to fundamentally change for the better how energy companies and professionals work together.”
