Dan Berce
The Fort Worth Chamber on Friday announced that Dan Berce, president and CEO of GM Financial, will be awarded with the Susan Halsey Executive Leadership Award, the chamber said in a press release.
Berce will be recognized at the FWC’s 141st Annual Meeting March 30 at the Texas Motor Speedway.
The chamber cited his more than 30 years of executive leadership and stewardship of one of the country’s most successful auto finance companies, as well as overseeing the acquisition and transition to General Motors’ finance arm in 2010.
“Dan has been instrumental in leading GM Financial into a global organization with more than 9,000 team members,” said Rosa Navejar, chair of the Fort Worth Chamber, “His strong commitment and leadership have helped grow GM Financial to over $100 billion in assets. Under Dan’s leadership, a formal Mentoring Program was implemented to advance both women and professionals of color and has demonstrated a talent retention of 92%.”
The award, named after the late Susan Halsey, who served as chairman of the FWC in 2013, honors leadership excellence in business in the Fort Worth metropolitan area. It recognizes presidents, principals, or chief executive officers for devoting time and energy to strengthen and transform the organization they lead.
The award was created to honor Susan Halsey, an attorney and transformative leader in the Fort Worth community, who passed away in December 2014. She was the managing partner of Jackson Walker LLP.
“I could think of no better recipient of the Susan Halsey Executive Leadership Award than Dan Berce,” said Jay Rutherford, managing partner of Jackson Walker’s Fort Worth office. “Susan was a trailblazer in the legal profession. Having known and worked with Dan for more than 25 years, I have witnessed firsthand how he exemplifies the leadership qualities that Susan Halsey demonstrated within our firm and the greater Fort Worth community.”
Nominees must demonstrate the ability to actively support advancement, create a vision and inspire others, establish a positive image for his or her business while leading it to higher levels of success, encourage innovation and risk-taking among employees, give back to the community, and provide mentorship.
