Pharmacist Duong Nguyen
A membership-based pharmacy has opened in north Fort Worth, aiming to offer a more affordable alternative for buying medicine.
Synergy Scripts is now open at 4561 Heritage Trace Parkway — an independent pharmacy run by pharmacist Duong Nguyen. Members pay a $5 monthly fee to access a $5 formulary of a 30-day supply for commonly prescribed drugs, up to 75% savings on other medications, and more services. They can also upgrade to a $20 membership and get free deliveries and 24/7 access to the pharmacist, among other benefits.
Drugs part of the $5 formulary include commonly prescribed medications such as antibiotics and those for blood pressure, cholesterol, and muscle relaxants. Those outside the formulary — such as drugs for migraines, sleep, and weight loss — are discounted up to 75%. There are also discounts offered for supplements, over-the-counter medications, medical supplies, and vitamin and immune booster injections, along with free flu shots depending on the level of membership.
“Many patients today are buying their prescriptions without pharmacy benefits,” Nguyen said in a statement. “The out-of-pocket costs for common prescriptions are astronomical, and I wanted to provide a better solution with our membership-based pharmacy plans. We are an independent pharmacy, and one-on-one care will be a hallmark of our services.”
A graduate from Xavier School of Pharmacy, Nguyen spent 11 years at Walgreens before opening Synergy Scripts. According to a news release, "his goal is to be a link between doctor and patient, explaining the medications they are taking and potential side effects." Synergy Scripts is located inside DPC Health, a membership-based clinic, with both entities working in conjunction to "build a pharmacist-to-doctor relationship so patients can trust that both parties are communicating efficiently to provide the best care."
