TX Serves North Texas serves more than 1,100 vets in first six months.
TX Serves North Texas, a United Way of Tarrant County program, has served more than 1,100 veterans in its first six months. More than 50 social service agencies participate in the program, which connects vets to services they need, ranging from job services, to transportation and healthcare.
The gap between vets who need help and agencies that offer it is well-documented and called the "sea of goodwill," TD Smyers, CEO of United Way of Tarrant County, says. The Tarrant County program bridges that gap, he says. United Way is looking for more agencies to participate in the program, and for private funders.
