O. Homer Erekson, the John V. Roach Dean of the Neeley School of Business at TCU, will step down as dean in May 2019, Erekson told faculty and staff.
Erekson, named dean in March 2008, will continue at TCU Neeley as a faculty member, the Neeley School said. “A search committee will be put in place by the Provost's office for a new dean.”
Erekson is an alumnus of TCU with a bachelor of business in economics and political science from TCU. He holds a PHD in economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Erekson said in a statement to faculty and staff that he looks “forward to returning to the faculty to pursue teaching and research.”
“It has been a privilege to serve in this important leadership role,” he said. “I am grateful for the amazing faculty and staff in the Neeley School who have nurtured and supported our students, have been thought leaders with high quality research, have helped Neeley become a leader among academic units at TCU, and have provided important leadership to the business community and professional associations and organizations well beyond TCU.
“Our former mayor and good friend, Bob Bolen, had a mantra to leave the place a little better than you found it. That has been my passion for the last decade, always remembering that our core responsibility is maximizing the development of and opportunities for our students.
“You have heard me cite some who say that leadership is planting the seeds for trees whose shade you will never sit under. Thank you all for planting so many amazing seeds. The trees are already growing and I trust we will all continue to nurture all that is good about the Neeley School and TCU for years to come.”
