A new, more than 53,000-square-foot Tesla distribution center is in the application process with the city of Fort Worth. The proposed center would be built on an more than five-acre plot near Fossil Creek Boulevard and Interstate 35W on the north end of the city.
According to the application, the center would include a one-story building that would be used as a showroom, vehicle preparation/service area, and ancillary office space. The project also proposes 407 total parking stalls, including nine disabled parking stalls, and three access points.
If built, Tesla owners would have access to standard servicing and repair of their electric vehicles including software updates, tire replacement, tire balancing, replacement of bolt-on parts (that is, window regulators, door handles, suspension components, bumpers), etc.
On the showroom side of things, customers would be able to view displays of Tesla energy products, complete with test drives and demos. Tesla buyers would also be able to pick up their new car at this location.
Unlike other automakers, Tesla sells its cars directly to consumers rather than partnering with a franchised dealership. However, Texas state law prohibits manufacturers and distributors from selling a new motor vehicle directly to a customer.
It is still unclear if and when this new locale will open. This center would mark Tesla’s second location in Fort Worth. The first store is located at 275 University Drive just north of the intersection with West Seventh Street.
