Rhino's New Mexico plant
Rhino Health LLC, the only U.S. maker of nitrile rubber gloves, plans to open a 400,000-square-foot factory in south Fort Worth, creating 800 jobs, the company and Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce said.
Rhino is leasing a site for the plant in the Majestic Fort Worth South Business Park at Interstate 35W and Everman Parkway, owned by Majestic Realty, development partner with Fort Worth's Hickman family in the major ongoing redevelopment of the historic Fort Worth Stockyards. The new plant will be will more triple the production of Rhino's one plant on the Navajo Reservation in Church Rock, N.M. east of Gallup, company officials said. Rhino dramatically ramped up production of its gloves, made for healthcare and other industries, during the pandemic.
“This is a significant first step for Rhino Health to invest and grow in the Fort Worth region,” Mark Lee, CEO of Rhino Health, said in a release.
The plant will include 10,000 square feet of office space, which will serve as a regional headquarters, Chris Strayer, the Chamber's executive vice president of economic development, said.
The plant has immediate access to trucking, which it uses to move its goods. About two thirds of the jobs created will be in production, Strayer said in an interview. The company is looking at starting production beginning in the first quarter next year, he said.
“Fort Worth is proud to be partnering with another domestic company to shore up the supply chain for PPE materials in the future,” Strayer said.
"Their mission of responsibly producing quality ‘Made in the USA’ products is a perfect fit for Fort Worth, and it will be exciting to see their products made right here in Cowtown reach out into medical, industrial and commercial businesses across the country,” Mayor Betsy Price said in the release.
The Chamber said it's actively working on more than 100 relocation and expansion projects, about 75% manufacturing/industrial.
