The Greater Fort Worth Association of REALTORS (GFWAR) has brought Kit Marshall onto its team as new director of advocacy and community affairs.
Marshall, former mayor of Aledo, will be responsible for managing legislative and community affairs on behalf of GFWAR and its members.
“Kit’s experience as an elected official and in the nonprofit realm makes her an ideal fit for our team,” said Robert Gleason, CEO of GFWAR, in a statement. “With her wealth of knowledge of local and state governments, Kit will ensure our members’ voices are heard at every level.”
Before joining GFWAR, Marshall served as mayor, a volunteer position, for 16 years and as a council member for four years. During this time, she also served on regional committees with the North Central Texas Council of Governments and the North Central Texas Trauma Regional Advisory Council.
Marshall had a guiding hand in the growth of several economic development initiatives during her 14-year tenure as president of the Aledo Economic Development Corporation and a founding member of the East Parker County Chamber of Commerce. Marshall was recognized with the Presidential Award for Volunteerism and the East Parker County Chamber of Commerce Pappy Thompson Public Service Award.
“It’s vital to have a seat at the table. That is why I plan to work tirelessly to strengthen relationships within our community and with elected officials,” said Marshall. “I’m looking forward to advocating for our members and the real estate industry.”
With a degree in social work from Oral Roberts University, Marshall, who played on the women’s basketball team there, started her career in the nonprofit sector, working with several nonprofit organizations before working in county government. She’s held various leadership positions on local and regional governing entities as well as religious and volunteer organizations.
