Hiley Acura plans to build a new $13 million, 38,000-square-foot dealership on the West Loop, according to documents filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
The facility will include a showroom and offices, service drive, service shop, car wash with an attached detail canopy, along with “appropriate site work” and customer parking.
VLK Architects of Fort Worth is the architectural firm of record, according to the documents.
Work is set to begin on April 1 and be completed by October 2025.
The network of Hiley dealerships are still family owned.
Randy Hiley, a longtime sales manager at King Charlie Hilliard, purchased Jerry Kelley’s Mazda/Volkswagen dealership in 1990. It was located one mile south of old Arlington Stadium — the Texas Rangers' first ballpark, torn down in 1994 — at the corner of Stadium and Division. Today, sons Jason and Matthew serve as the president and vice president of the company.
The auto group bought Hiley Mazda of Hurst in 2003. In 2009, Hiley purchased the Mazda, Volkswagen, and Audi franchise in Huntsville, Alabama.
Hiley Buick GMC in Fort Worth opened in April 2010. Later that same year, Hiley was assigned a Subaru dealership next door to Buick GMC. In 2014, Ada Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram was purchased in Ada, Oklahoma.
In 2015, Hiley expanded again, opening a Hyundai franchise in Burleson. 2018 marked a big year, starting in April 2018 with Hiley’s purchase of the Hyundai dealership in west Fort Worth from Frank Kent Motor Co. The acquisition of Mac Churchill Acura in north Fort Worth followed shortly. Not long after that, AutoNation Mazda was sold to the Hiley group.
More recently, Hiley completed the construction of the newest Mazda dealership, in Burleson.
Hiley Acura of Fort Worth currently is located at 3125 NE Loop 820.
Randy Hiley, an Arkansas native, moved to Fort Worth in the late 1960s after high school graduation to work for his uncle, Dub Shaw, founder of Dub Shaw Ford.
At the time of Shaw’s death in 1985, Dub Shaw Ford was the third-oldest Ford dealership in Tarrant County. Shaw began his auto sales career working with Fort Worth Ford dealer Bobby Helm in 1948.
Shaw, a Purple Heart recipient in WWII, founded his dealership in 1964.
