Former TCU golfer J.J. Henry, a PGA Tour professional of 24 years, announced that he along with partner Bubba Vann will develop an exclusive gated community that will include a championship golf course in southeast Parker County.
Avanzada Golf & Ranch Club will be comprised of 1,100 acres and described as “the crown jewel” of Kelly Ranch, a 2,400-acre master planned development located at the corner of Kelly Road and U.S. 377 in Parker County.
Henry will be working with Jim Lipe, the award winning and longtime Jack Nicklaus associate, on design of the golf course.
Fort Worth, originally founded as the “Trinity Outpost,” served as the inspiration for the name Avanzada, which is the Spanish word for outpost.
“Golf has provided me the opportunity to travel the world and experience the best of the best in golf courses, clubhouses, and exclusive communities,” Henry said in a statement. “It has always been my goal to create a community with a world class golf club as the centerpiece amenity in the Fort Worth area. Avanzada will allow me to incorporate the best things I have seen and experienced during my PGA Tour career.”

Henry said the property at Avanzada will allow for design of the “one of the best” courses in Texas. Avanzada is dotted with mature hardwoods, 200 feet of elevation changes, rolling hills, long views, and half a mile of water frontage from Bear Creek, according to the developers.
“I am excited to bring my vision for golf and a new healthy lifestyle community to Parker County,” Henry said. “I look forward to making Avanzada my new home.”
Vann, a Fort Worth native and entrepreneur, was the developer of the renowned South Padre Island Golf Club.
“I am extremely excited to be back in Fort Worth and to help J.J. bring his vision to life,” said Vann, also a TCU graduate. “Our combined experience will be the catalyst to create one of the best exclusive golf course communities in Texas.”
In addition to Avanzada, the 2,400-acre master planned Kelly Ranch development encompasses a total of three new communities, including Rio Vista at Kelly Ranch and La Dorada at Kelly Ranch.
Kelly Ranch will also take advantage of nearly 1.5 miles of U.S. 377 frontage with luxury retail shopping, restaurants, and entertainment with its 65 acre “Shops at Avanzada” development.
Along with the resort feel brought by retail shopping and a championship golf course, Kelly Ranch will feature all of the necessary development needed for a day-to-day life. A new grocery store, medical office buildings, Aledo ISD school sites, and Class-A business offices will be located along the eastern most border of the development at the cross roads of U.S. 377 and Kelly Road.
Rio Vista, which will allow the public the first opportunity of living in Kelly Ranch, has currently broken ground and is available for touring now.
