Westcliff Shopping Center
LanCarte Commercial said on Monday that it had renewed its role as the leasing team for the Westcliff Shopping Center.
The property had recently been acquired by Partners, formerly NAI Partners, taking effect in October.
Ben Gehrke and Riley Dow of LanCarte Commercial will continue their tasks of leasing responsibilities.
“We're looking forward to continuing the momentum we've created at Westcliff and working with Partners as they expand their footprint in DFW,” said Dow in a statement. “Westcliff Shopping Center is a significant property in the Westcliff/TCU area, and we have great things planned for this asset.”
Construction on the Westcliff Shopping Center began in 1945, marking the beginning of a significant development in the area with the establishment of Moreland's Rexall Drug as its first storefront.
The property was developed by J.E. Foster & Son. The development became and remains cultural and commercial hub of the neighborhood.
Foster’s company, The Westcliff Company, developed the shopping area first then, with his partners, Riverside Development Corp., developed the neighborhood around from the late 1940s to mid-1960s.
Foster Park, at South Drive and Trail Lake Drive, was named for him. It was a tract he donated to the city for a park.
Foster & Son also developed the Kellis Park neighborhood as a veterans housing project built in conjunction with the Veterans Administration.
Other early shops in the Westcliff Shopping Center included Mott’s Five & Dime and Worth Food Market. Bolen’s Toy Palace, owned by the late Fort Worth Mayor Bob Bolen, also had a retail position there at one time. Fair Department Store and Monnig’s, which bought the Fair, also did business out of there.
Foster sold the property in 1973.

The development has enjoyed a renaissance in the recent years following a proposed redevelopment that did not materialize.
Recent notable leases orchestrated by LanCarte Commercial include:
- Cowtown Marathon's corporate headquarters: 14,040 square feet.
- Self-Made Trainings: 12,520 square feet (Anticipated opening at the end of 2023).
- Fort Worth Dance Academy: 3,600 square feet.
- Batter and Beans: 920 square feet.
- High Sky Holdings: 1,200 square feet.
- Organized Nest: 805 square feet
- Specialist Jewelry Clinic: 1,300 square feet.
“Where other brokerages failed previously, with Westcliff Shopping Center, LanCarte delivered. It isn't easy, but I wouldn't want it any other way,” Gehrke said.
